Shake, Rattle and Roll

So we got to experience an earthquake today. It measured 4.5 on the Richter Scale. The apartment building where I live shook and swayed for about 15-20 seconds. The epicenter was in Kentucky. Nothing broke and there wasn't any damage.

If I lived in California, this might not have been a big deal, but I don't. I live in West Virginia along the Ohio River where our natural disasters tend toward flooding.

Strangely enough, this is the second tremor this year. The first one was in March.

Although it wasn't a big one, it gives me a small insight to how the folks in California must feel. I don't envy them. It's disconcerting to a certain extent. We are not supposed to have earthquakes. That's a West Coast thing.

Just makes me wonder what's next on Mother Nature's mind what with hurricanes in New York and earthquakes in West Virginia...

Yikes! When we had our earthquake here (VA) last year it was so freaky. I'm an east coast girl all the way so I'd definitely never felt anything like that, even if there wasn't much damage other than the small town right over the epicenter.

Definitely a freaky feeling. Lol. The link that Elr posted has some really good information that I didn't know. You should check it out.
