2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Two actually – A/B/O and Mpreg – and I never thought I would. But I got sucked into those tropes when I started reading Supernatural RPF and really enjoyed them. White Collar doesn’t usually do those two very much, so I think it would be interesting to try them and see what happens. (I actually have a timestamp in mind for my WCBB where Neal lays an egg…)

3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?

Guro - I don’t understand the violence involved and it makes me uncomfortable.

4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?

Way too many to even think of! I have a notebook of ideas that I look at occasionally just to remind myself what bunnehs are still out there.

Some ideas – because I can’t just do one!

Corner of the Sky - Pippin AU where Peter is the director and Neal is Pippin

Startdust - CrimeBoss!Peter AU set in the 1920s where Peter is a Bootlegger and Neal owns a club

Time Machine AU where Neal and Mozzie are scientists in Victorian NYC and invent a time machine

Roman AU where Peter is a Roman Commander and Neal is a captured Celtic Prince

The Devil’s Interval – Peter and Neal are rival composers and Mozzie is the Devil with an offer they can’t refuse

5. Share one of your strengths.

Character voice. I feel like I do well in nailing down the nuances of a character through their dialogue.

Thank you!

Those AUs sounds AWESOME.... I want them so much L)

Vicotorian scientists might be my favorite, but Roman/Celtic and rival composers are so good too.

9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?

The Appointment. This was an entry for smpc. My muse decided that the story needed to be in First Person POV where Jensen was tied up and blindfolded in a hotel room. So all I had was hearing, and taste and reaction to work with. I think it turned out well but it was not easy.

12. Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?

Probably the pilot. It’s tight, fun and has some of the best dialogue. (Snarky!Peter is one of my favorites)

16. If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?

Hands down Peter/Neal. There’s just so many delicious permutations of the two!

1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.

For whatever reason, I seem to lean towards action/adventure/romance type fics. Probably because growing up, my favorite movies were the Indiana Jones series, Star Wars and Star Trek. Even if the story is not primarily action/adventure, you’ll see elements of them sneak in. And my main characters always need to fall in love, even if they don’t necessarily get a HEA.

15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

Here Be Dragons – my current WCBB. It’s got NYC, jewels and gems and Peter as a dragon!!!!!

20. Describe your perfect writing conditions.

I usually write in my bedroom from a computer lapdesk so, clean sheets, good music, a drink, no distractions and lots of Word Wars.

34. What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?

I think they have their place. I read them and enjoy them as long as it makes sense in the story. I feel that way whether it’s fanfic, regular books, movies or TV. If it doesn’t advance the character or storyline then don’t include it.

29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

elrhiarhodan’s SPQR ‘verse. So far it’s four parts - Questions of Position and the Use of Authority , What We Like and How We Like It , A Dangerous Young God , and Intermezzo .

The verse is dark and sensual and classic – saying that it’s just a D/S verse does not do it justice. It is so much more, and her Peter and Neal and Elizabeth are rich and complex and her OCs are flawless. I’d love to try my hand but I’m not sure I would be able to do it justice.

37. Talk about your current WIPS.
I have so many WIPs out there that I want to finish. Here’s a few -
1. A three part WC RPS that I have bits of where Matt and Tim angst over each other. With the end of the series I’m not sure I’ll ever really finish it.
2. A SPN J2 space slave fic where Jensen is a military commander and winds up saving Jared from being killed in a riot during The Auction.
3. The WC crew is celebrating at a bar and somehow they wind up playing Truth or Dare. Peter winds up taking the dare and has to “Say yes” to four ideas of Neal’s choosing.
4. Peter is a late night radio DJ and Neal is a shut in who falls in love with Peter’s voice. Ironically, they are neighbors.
5. A SPN RPS where Jensen is an academy award winning actor and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a former paparazzi-turned high end photog.
6. Devil’s Night: The Beginning was the second fic I ever wrote. Peter and Elizabeth are stalked by a former flame. When I wrote it, I hadn’t learned to outline a plot like I do now so the ideas are kind of fuzzy. I definitely want to finish it at some point.

38. Talk about a review that made your day.

I got this one when I posted my first WC fan fic Lapsed on AO3. It really made my day.

From Chandlia – “I really enjoyed this. Faith is such an integral part of most people: whether it be faith in themselves, their family, or God (or 'whoever' as Mozzie would say). It's a big part of White Collar too. Peter's faith in Neal is practically its own character in the show.

It was telling that the argument that Neal saved as his closing argument with James at the end of Season 4 involved something that Neal himself would be convinced by: not promises of ameliorated sentences, prison-breaks, or convenient lies; rather an emotional plea that asked James to be better person than he wanted to be -- to live up to the faith and trust that his son placed in him. Faith is placing trust, confidence, in something else: something that isn't always readily seen. It's counter-intuitive to our reasonable, everything-must-be-explained 21st Century lives and yet we still crave it like nothing else: both giving it and accepting it. I wish more fanfics dealt with this part of relationships.”

Oh I really like this idea. : ) I want to know why Neal is a shut in and how Peter ended up working as a radio DJ. I look to reading it.

10. Which fic has been the easiest to write?

embroiderama and elrhiarhodan asked for this at about the same time so I’m going to answer both of them because both stories are part of the same ‘verse. So go check out the other one’s comment.

embroiderama 5:55 5:55 because it is quintessentially Neal. His playfulness, the way he taunts Peter (who was clueless at first) and Peter’s reaction was just so much fun to write.

14. What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?

Don’t start writing until you’ve fleshed out your characters on paper. A teacher told me that and it stifled me like you couldn’t believe. Now I just have a rough sketch in my head with a few key points on paper and it works so much better because my characters lead me where they want me to go.

32. How do you feel about smut?

I actually had to look up the definition of this! Lol

I don’t like it and here’s why - Merriam Webster defines it as language, pictures, or stories that deal with sex in a way that is offensive.

For me the key word here is offensive. When I write my NC-17 scenes, it’s with respect for the characters and my readers. I try not to use degrading descriptions and language. If it’s a dub-con/non-con scene I try to fade to black and pick up in the emotional aftermath.

Yeah, that's something that really works for some people but totally doesn't work for me either.

I'm all about the even numbers today!

6. Share one of your weaknesses.

Procrastination. I’ll tell you why….later. LOL Seriously – I know I should write but I just don’t and then the deadline gets closer and I make everyone around me crazy as I freak out.

8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

Actually it’s a whole ficlet that’s just dialogue. It’s called Staff Briefing and I’m proud of it because you can feel Peter’s frustration with Neal without any description of body language or location.

10. Which fic has been the easiest to write?

Here's the second part. elrhiarhodan - Playing for the Win. Playing for the Win is Peter’s competitive streak all the way. I sat there grinning like an idiot imagining his face as he took Neal apart. (especially when he was standing at the window of his office with the remote control.)

17. Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

Um – yes? I try to write in order because that’s how my mind works, but if I get stuck I move on to the next scene. However, that makes me uncomfortable so I usually wind up staring at the screen at the scene that’s undone until I can get past my block.

21. How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

Very few times, actually. I edit as I write so it’s a very fluid process. When I send it to my beta(s), my story is very close to finished.

27. How do you feel about collaborations?

I adore the thought of a collaboration. I’ve never done one in fiction but I’d be up for the challenge.
